A limit to soufflé power
It turns out that there is a limit to the power gained from managing to cook a soufflé successfully. I didn’t get the job.
There is also, I suppose, a limit to what we can expect from job interviews, even if we have prepared for them thoroughly and leave them thinking that everything went swimmingly. Nonetheless, I was pretty annoyed that they didn’t choose me.
I’d love to know what genius they hired, and how they wooed and swayed the interviewers. In the mean time I’ll try and remember the sage advice of the American cook James Beard who said that “The only thing that will make a soufflé fall is if it knows you are afraid of it.” Oh yeah, interviews are a cinch.
