A machine gun echo in the Alps

Here is an interesting site I found : SoundTransit - “a collaborative, online community dedicated to field recording and phonography.” The site is filled with field recordings from round the world which you can either navigate through using the â€?Bookâ€? section, which allows you to “plan a sonic journey through various locations recorded around the world.” Alternitively you can just use the search function to look for specific sounds.

Some of the unusual sounds I found include: machine gun echoes in the Alps, the Bahnar Easter Ceremony and someone sleeping in a public baths! What fabulousness. Even better is that you can upload your own unusual ‘phonographic’ delights.

Wow! The web rocks…whirrs, echoes, chants and snores
