A new way
In December my application to run in the London Marathon was turned down, but in the dreaded rejection envelope another slip lurked. This other piece of paper guaranteed me a place in the Edinburgh Marathon. Thank goodness, here was a chance to trudge myself into the ground without the one in eight chance of getting a place, nor the rather steep entry requirement of having to raise £2000 for charity that the London event involved. Not that I have anything against fundraising of course, but after my sponsored bike ride last year and duathlon in 2006, cadging money from mates and work collegues for a third year on the trot might be asking too much. Plus, I’ve never even been to Scotland, let alone Edinburgh and I fancy the idea.
So, this is my new, rather daunting, project. More later…
