Compete or die

Having just finished my Duathlon, whilst revving up for the next one on the 22nd October, I have now managed to enter myself for the D&AD Advertising Workshops. D&AD is “an educational charity that represents the global creative, design and advertising communities”, and they have workshops twice a year that allow aspiring ad men and women to work with experienced creative bastardos and learn from them.

So far so good – the bad bit is that to take part in the workshops you have to jump through a rather firey hoop – enter ideas that answer a creative brief. It’s all very competitive as all the young advertising dudes throughout the UK want to get on these things. I and my creative partner (designer and in this role ‘art director’) have applied for their Advertising and their Integrated Advertising workshops. We have to provide advertising campaigns for ebay and the Mercedes Vito by next Wednesday – well, next Monday if you count the post.

There is the challenge, I’ll keep you posted how it goes…At the moment, status: flustered.
