Get your Balafon on
Top of the pops this week must surely be The Kasai All-Stars, a band of 25 musicians from the Kasaï region of the Congo. The band also feature on the second Congotronics album. If the music itself wasn’t good enough, their album surely has one of the best titles of any album, ever: In the seventh moon, the chief turned into a swimming fish and ate the head of his enemy by magic. The band use electric guitars, electric likembés, balafons, percussion and dancing, as well as singers.
Also, the makers of the hilarious comic Get Your War On have now gone ‘life in cartoon motion’, with a Get Your War On animation. Unfortunately as this is only the first episode, there’s no huge back log of clips to watch.
