Good things

An internet phenomenon landed on my desktop last week, and I didn’t even recognise it. It’s a game called FreeRice, where you are given a word and four possible interpretations. If you choose the correct one, ten grains of rice are donated to the United Nations Food Programme by the generous corporate sponsors of the project. I played the game for a few minutes, liked it and promptly forgot about it.

It appears the game has already raised one billion grains of rice. Apparently it was started by a 50 year old US programmer, who only launched it on 7 October.

I’ve also bumped into another good thing - good fun and good cause - called Do the Green Thing. Their videos, in particular, are fab.
