The toilet woman and tunes
Perhaps it’s because I’m a Londoner, or a Brit and thus obsessed with all things lavatorial, but this must be the story of the week, or year, possibly even geological age: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/03/13/toilet_woman/. Yes, the fun starts with the URL, oh what riches ‘/toilet_woman’ promises, then it just gets weirder. Two years on the throne outdoes most medieval monarchs.
Looking deeper at the article we find the pitiful and red-necked devil is in the details. There she sat in her sweat pants, somewhere in Kansas, the product of a tough and confined childhood. Surely, the boyfriend had a role to play in this and is it me or does the policeman’s name sounds like a character from Philip K Dick – County Sheriff Whipple?
On a different note, here are some tunes that I’ve been listening to today:
Devotchka who according to their Wiki page are “a four piece multi-instrumental and vocal ensemble that fuses Romani, Greek, Slavic, Bolero, and Mariachi music with American punk and folk roots. They take their name from Anthony Burgess’ Nadsat word for “young girl,” which is itself derived from the Russian word (девочка) of the same meaning.” Here’s the Devotchka myspace page too.
Then there is the Shortwave Set from just round the corner to me in ‘Victorian Funk’ sound and apparently Dangermouse liked their first album so much, he decided to take them to LA and produce their next album ‘replica sun machine’ with help from Van Dyke Parks (of Beach Boys fame) and John ‘waiting for my Welsh man’ Cale, all for free… or cheap! Good stuff too!

This story has been all over the news in the states…amusing, in many ways, but truly horrific in others. I’d like for someone to ram a plunger up her boyfriend’s arse honestly. I thought my dad stayed in the look for a long time…feckin’ hell though! 2 years???
