Waiting for the verdict

Yesterday, I made my third visit to the physiotherapist. Surely, at last I would find out if my knee was in a fit enough state to let me run the Edinburgh Marathon. First the physio measured the distance between my heel and arse, and at 6 1/2 inches things were getting better. Then I had another bout of massage on the quads, and mercifully the ITB on right side of my leg was left alone. It was this part of my leg that hurt so much when massaged on Monday. I found out that it is not actually muscle but fascia, which is probably why it hurt so much. The massage reduced the pressure by another inch. Unfortunately, I’m being kept waiting to find out if I can run the race. Next update is on Monday. I was sent for a right thigh massage today, which seemed to loosen it up a bit.

I’m riding the bike this weekend again, so if I am allowed to run the race it’s looking like I won’t have run for a fortnight to a two and a half weeks before the marathon. Highly unusual, I’m sure.
